Why choose Warm Roof PRO 0.1 over a glass or traditional stick type solid roof?

Warm Roof PRO 0.1 is a modern alternative to glass and bolt or screw assembled profile-stick solid conservatory roofs. Unlike other designs, Warm Roof PRO 0.1 is supplied as a sustainably sourced flat pack kit that is quick and easy to install on almost any existing conservatory. It is also more thermally efficient, durable and secure than traditional conservatory roofs and roof replacements.

What’s the difference between and conservatory and an orangery?

An orangery is closer to a home extension, typical designs include a flat roof surrounding a large lantern light and often incorporating some floor to ceiling solid wall areas. Creating the feel of a more traditional room, Orangeries are often chosen to create seating areas against a wall or designed as a kitchen extension. Large lantern lights create an airy space and the surrounding ceiling to the flat roof is ideal for creating intimate down lighting. Conservatories come in a wide range of designs and shapes, where-as orangeries usually take on a classic rectangular form.

Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

Generally, garden rooms are classed as outbuildings, which means you don’t need permission. However, you must have permitted development rights at your home or the area you live in. You can build a garden room if it is located more than 20 metres from your main building and less than 10m x 10m in size. You will need planning permission is your garden room is larger than 10m x 10m.

How does a SIP panel work?

SIP panels are a sandwich structured composite, consisting of an insulating layer of rigid core sandwiched between two layers of structural board, used as a building material. SIPs are great for building in areas with difficult access and they are also energy efficient and provide greater insulation then timber alone.
Our structural insulated panels (SIPS) are 147mm thick, consisting of two facings of 11mm OSB/3, between which is 125mm of rigid thermoset urethane foam.

Why is Warm Roof PRO 0.1 more energy efficient?

The Warm Roof PRO 0.1 roof system uses highly insulated SIPS (Structural Insulated Panels), making it much more thermally efficient. With no aluminium profiles or beams, the risk of cold bridging is avoided, creating a true warm roof. Warm Roof PRO 0.1 conservatory roof system can cut heating costs, achieving a U-value of 0.1 W/m2K as standard. A lower U-value means greater energy efficiency and Warm Roof PRO 0.1 is significantly lower that the latest Building Regulation requirements – saving more on heating bills and keeping the conservatory a cooler space to be in warm weather.

What are the permitted development planning permission rules?

Conservatories are considered permitted developments and don’t need planning permission, but building regulation approval is required on any work.
Conservatories only need planning permission if:

• They are higher than the highest point of the roof.
• The eaves and ridge height are higher than the existing house (single-storey and two-storey).
• The eaves height is more than 3 metres, if within 2 metres of the boundary.
